Unveiling India's Largest Ivory Poaching Ring: Richie Mehta's Crime Series 'Poacher'

Emmy award-winning filmmaker Richie Mehta has announced his latest crime series, titled 'Poacher,' a fictional dramatization inspired by events documented in court records and testimonials. The series unfolds in the dense forests of Kerala and the urban landscape of Delhi, portraying the efforts of Indian forest service officers, NGO workers from the Wildlife Trust of India, police constables, and civilians who risked their lives to investigate the largest ivory poaching ring in Indian history.

'Poacher' marks QC Entertainment's debut in television production, known for Oscar-winning films such as Jordan Peele's 'Get Out' and Spike Lee's 'BlacKkKlansman.' Richie Mehta, the creator of 'Delhi Crime,' has taken on the roles of creator, writer, and director for 'Poacher.' The series features Nimisha Sajayan, Roshan Mathew, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya in key roles.

To maintain authenticity, 'Poacher' has been filmed in real locations in Kerala and New Delhi, primarily in Malayalam, Hindi, and English.

Richie Mehta expressed his excitement about the collaboration with Prime Video, stating, "After putting the last four years into exploring the themes and characters in this complex world of crime fighting... I couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with Prime Video to take 'Poacher' to a worldwide audience."

The series is set to premiere on Prime Video on February 23, promising a gripping narrative that explores the meaning of justice in a unique context. Manish Menghani, Director of Content Licensing at Prime Video India, highlighted the series' potential to engage audiences globally and initiate social and cultural conversations. The first three episodes of the eight-episode series premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival.
