Following the remarkable success of series like "Panchayat", "Gullak", and "Kota Factory", The Viral Fever (TVF) is gearing up to venture into the realm of cinema, while also exploring diverse genres such as horror and thriller in long-form storytelling, as stated by Shreyansh Pandey, the Head of Originals at the company.
Originating as a YouTube channel, TVF has emerged as one of the foremost entities in the Indian streaming domain, presenting authentic narratives from various corners of India. Whether it's the rural drama of "Panchayat" or the portrayal of a middle-class family in small-town India in "Gullak", the company has resonated deeply with audiences. Their inaugural show, "Permanent Roommates", debuted in 2014.
"Kota Factory", another acclaimed production, delves into the world of students preparing for competitive exams in the coaching centers of Kota, Rajasthan.
Pandey shared insights into TVF's future endeavors, affirming their commitment to entertaining audiences through a diverse array of shows. Expanding their repertoire, they plan to explore more genres, with dramas remaining integral. Additionally, their foray into feature films will encompass both simplistic narratives and grand spectacles, including genres like sci-fi, horror, and thriller.
Hints were dropped about upcoming seasons of popular shows like "Panchayat", "Kota Factory", and the sophomore installment of the sports drama "Sixer".
In 2023, TVF produced 15 shows, with plans for an even more extensive lineup in 2024. Pandey revealed that the company has a substantial slate of 35 to 40 shows in various stages of development.
Reflecting on the journey, Pandey expressed nerves and pride regarding the anticipation surrounding the fourth season of "Gullak", recently released on SonyLIV. Originally conceptualized for YouTube's Screen Patti, the series found a home on SonyLIV.
Starring Geetanjali Kulkarni, Jameel Khan, Vaibhav Raj Gupta, and Harsh Mayar, "Gullak" chronicles the life of the middle-class Mishra family in Uttar Pradesh.
Acknowledging the challenge of writing, Pandey emphasized the importance of refining scripts through continuous iteration and feedback. He credited TVF's creative forum for providing invaluable input and support.
Grateful for the audience's unwavering support, Pandey underscored the significance of celebrating the protagonist's journey and maintaining faith in storytelling despite initial skepticism.
Reflecting on past doubts about viewers' willingness to pay for TVF's content on YouTube, Pandey acknowledged the constructive criticism that fueled their ambition to innovate and push boundaries in content creation.
