An action-thriller, "Sugar Bandits," is to be directed by the famous Italian filmmaker Stefano Sollima—known for the films "Without Remorse" and "Sicario: Day of the Soldado"—and will star the ever-charismatic Will Smith.
According to Variety, the entertainment news site, the film will be adapted from Chuck Hogan's thrilling novel "Devils In Exile."
In "Sugar Bandits," Smith will portray an ex-elite special forces operative who leads a secret vigilante squad committed to ridding the mean streets of Boston of the scourge of drugs.
But Smith will not only star in the movie; he will also produce with Jon Mone under Westbrook Studios, with Ryan Shimazaki overseeing the project.
"Devils in Exile" will be produced by AGC Studios, headed up by Stuart Ford, fully financing the picture, and Richard Abate of 3 Arts Entertainment will also produce. Sollima's producing partners, Gina Gardini and Ludovico Purgatori, will executive produce and co-produce, respectively, to bring the film's vision to life with excellence and style.
