Netflix has announced that the highly popular series "Squid Game" is set to return for its second season in 2024. The streaming service shared this exciting news in a letter to its shareholders, outlining a robust lineup for the upcoming year, which also includes the second seasons of "The Diplomat" and the German show "Empress," as well as the third chapter of "Bridgerton."

"Squid Game," released in September 2021, quickly became a global phenomenon, topping charts worldwide and claiming the title of the most-watched Netflix series of all time. Directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the survival drama follows cash-strapped contestants participating in deadly children's games for a tempting prize of 45.6 billion won (approximately USD 38.3 million).

The second season of "Squid Game" will see the return of lead actors Lee Jung-jae as Seong Gi-hun and Lee Byung-hun as Front Man. The ensemble cast also includes Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-Neul, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Park Gyu-young, Jo Yu-ri, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, and Won Ji-an.

Netflix's 2024 lineup is not limited to returning favorites, as it includes a range of new shows, such as "3 Body Problem" from "Game of Thrones" showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss, Sofia Vergara-starrer "Griselda," Guy Ritchie's "The Gentlemen," "Eric" led by Benedict Cumberbatch, "Avatar: The Last Airbender," "Cien Anos de Soledad" from Colombia, and "Senna" from Brazil. The streaming giant continues to offer diverse and compelling content for its global audience.
