Sonakshi Sinha's Acting Mantra: 'I Arrive on Set, Face the Camera, and the Character Comes Alive'

Speaking about her preparation for her characters in the web series 'Dahaad' and 'Heeramandi', the 37-year-old actress said: "Honestly, my method is that I don't have a set method, be it 'Dahaad' or my other project. I arrive on set, face the camera, and that's when the character comes alive for me. It's hard to explain, but having a strong imagination really helps."

Actress Sonakshi Sinha recently spoke about her distinctive method of preparation of a character where she admitted that she is not very much into a structured methodology. She prefers spontaneity and says that she simply reaches the sets, stands in front of the camera and allows the character to come alive within its time.

"Being observant—taking note of what you see and hear, picking up on certain nuances, and applying them when needed—that's how I approach it. I observe people and learn from them. Of course, directors are a huge help when preparing for a character, especially one you're unfamiliar with. Speaking specifically about Fareedan in 'Heeramandi', I would give credit to filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir," said she.

Sonakshi further went on to discuss the dissimilarities and similarities between working on an OTT project and a film.

"Honestly, as an actress I see it as part of my job. I didn't view it any different. In fact, I signed 'Dahaad', my first OTT project, before the lockdown. The selection process was similar to choosing any other movie-I loved the role, I loved the premise.". Since it is a long format it feels like signing three movies together but there was not much difference. As an actor my job is to perform whether that is on the big screen, OTT platform, or any stage, and that's what I am doing and concluded.

The last time we saw Sonakshi on the work front was in the supernatural comedy film 'Kakuda' where she will play Indira opposite Riteish Deshmukh as Victor, Saqib Saleem as Sunny in lead roles, while Aasif Khan is in a pivotal role of Kilvish.

It's a laugh-ride roller coaster, with laughter and chills. The film moves on the premises of the cursed village Ratodi and its spine-tingling moments are interwoven with some side-splitting humor. The movie is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala. Now it is streaming on ZEE5.
