Shivangi Joshi and Surbhi Chandna Condemn Mamata Banerjee After Trainee Doctor's Murder in Bengal

Shivangi, who has 9.6 million followers on Instagram, posted a picture of Mamata Banerjee on her Stories and added a long note to the post. It said, "Why is it that despite being a woman CM, the most heinous crimes against women are happening in Mamata's West Bengal and why is she so insensitive towards these grave issues?"

Two actresses, Shivangi Joshi and Surbhi Chandna, took to social media to condemn West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for keeping a silence over the gruesome rape-cum-murder of a lady doctor-in-training in Kolkata's R G Kar Medical College and Hospital. They went on to social media platform Instagram, demanding justice for the deceased.

Shivangi, who has 9.6 million followers on Instagram, posted a picture of Mamata Banerjee on her Stories and added a long note to the post. It continued, "Called it a suicide. Didn't give the body to the family. Gave a great job to the criminal. Destroyed evidence. Said 'people shouldn't protest on the streets instead mourn quietly'. If any of you still support this WOMAN who tried to save rapists and murderers.SHAME ON YOU!!! Justice delayed, justice denied."

Surbhi Chandna shared the same post on her Instagram Stories.

On the professional front, Shivangi Joshi started her acting career with the show 'Khelti Hai Zindagi Aankh Micholi' in 2013 as Trisha. Later on, she played the character of Aayat Haider in 'Beintehaa' and subsequently essayed the lead role of Poonam Thakur in 'Begusarai', opposite Vishal Aditya Singh. The show also starred Shweta Tiwari and Sartaj Gill in vital roles.

She is primarily known for playing the role of Naira Singhania in the long-running television show 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai'. Apart from that, she did work in 'Yeh Hai Aashiqui', 'Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya', and recently in 'Barsatein-Mausam Pyaar Ka' opposite Kushal Tandon. She has been a part of the stunt-based reality show 'Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 12' and the web series 'Jab We Matched'.

Meanwhile, Surbhi Chandna made her television debut back in 2009 with a cameo role in the famous sitcom 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah'. Four years later, she made a comeback on TV with the character of Suzanne in 'Ek Nanad Ki Khushiyon Ki Chaabi… Meri Bhabhi'. She then played the role of Haya in the serial 'Qubool Hai' and, since then, has remained in the lead of many successive serials like 'Ishqbaaaz', 'Dil Boley Oberoi', 'Sanjivani', and lately in 'Naagin 5'. Surbhi was lastly seen in the show 'Sherdil Shergill'.
