This development follows the termination of Melissa Barrera, who had a role in the franchise's fifth and sixth installments, after expressing support for the Palestinian cause and criticizing Israel's actions during the Israel-Hamas war on social media. Additionally, there were reports of Jenna Ortega, playing Barrera's onscreen younger sister, leaving the project due to scheduling conflicts.
