Paramount Pictures has finally rolled out the official trailer for the highly anticipated animated movie "The Smurfs".
The film is a vibrant musical spin on the classic franchise, and it is helmed by Chris Miller, who was part of the Shrek franchise.
Heading the cast of the pop sensation Rihanna, who also is one of the producers of this movie, are the iconic little blue Smurfette in the upcoming "The Smurfs" movie, written by Pam Brady and produced by A Ty Ty and Jay Brown Production.
This great ensemble stars Rihanna, who voices Smurfette. She is joined by an incredible ensemble, featuring James Corden, Nick Offerman, JP Karliak, Daniel Levy, Amy Sedaris, Natasha Lyonne, Sandra Oh, Octavia Spencer, Nick Kroll, Hannah Waddingham, Alex Winter, Maya Erskine, Billie Lourd, Xolo Maridueña, as well as Kurt Russell and John Goodman.
The trailer depicts Smurfette and other Smurfs going on a dangerous adventure into the human world to save Papa Smurf from the clutches of his arch-nemesis, Gargamel, and an unknown new accomplice named Razamel.
This new movie is a remake of the timeless Smurfs universe, but this time, it brings it into a modern context with the inspiration of the original Belgian comic strip and all the past movie variations. The 2D and 3D combined animation creates a different look for this film. The trailer also included Rihanna's rendition of Heaven is a Place on Earth, foreshadowing the film's musical direction. Cardi B also contributed to the soundtrack of the film.
The story of Smurfs follows when Papa Smurf (voiced by John Goodman) is unexpectedly captured by the sinister wizards Razamel and Gargamel, Smurfette (voiced by Rihanna) takes the lead in a daring mission into the human world to rescue him. Along the way, the Smurfs form new alliances and uncover the truths that will shape their destinies, all while striving to prevent the universe from descending into chaos.
The Smurfs is to be released on July 18, 2025, in English and Hindi.
