Actor Ranveer Singh on Monday disclosed that his wife and co-star Deepika Padukone was pregnant with their first child when she shot for Rohit Shetty's "Singham Again".
Ranveer Singh and Padukone, who had acted in films like "Ram-Leela" and "Bajirao Mastani", welcomed a baby girl on September 8.
Ranveer, who attended the trailer launch of the multi-starrer film "Singham Again", said that it is going to be the debut of their child, whom he fondly calls 'baby Simmba'- a reference to his character's name in Shetty's ambitious cop franchise.
"There are so many stars in this film. So, let me tell you this is my baby's debut, baby Simmba. Deepika was pregnant during the shooting," he told reporters.
Deepika gave the event a miss as she was busy with the newborn, he added.
"I am on night duty, so I have come," Ranveer said, before exclaiming "Mulgi jhaali re!" ('It's a girl!' in Marathi).
"Singham Again" is fronted by Ajay Devgn, who will reprise his role of the tough cop Bajirao Singham.
This Diwali-release movie would have Ranveer playing inspector Sangram "Simmba" Bhalerao and Akshay Kumar in DCP Veer Sooryavanshi.
Deepika, Arjun Kapoor, and Tiger Shroff have now been added to the cop universe consisting of the "Singham" movies featuring Devgn, "Simmba" of Ranveer, and "Sooryavanshi" starring Akshay.
"Diwali ke liye, lady Simmba, Simmba and baby Simmba ki haardik shubhkamnayein. Please gajab trailer ka enjoy karein, Diwali manai aur parivaar ke saath manai, humein pyaar aur shubhkamnaye kee aavedan hain, "" said Ranveer.
"Singham Again" will lock horns at the box office with the horror comedy "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3", which is being helmed by Anees Bazmee.
