The highly-awaited mythological epic Ramayana, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash, is still making headlines—not only for its cast of actors but now for its humongous production budget.
Whereas earlier indications were that the film was being produced on a budget of ₹1600 crore, producer Namit Malhotra has now confirmed that the cost is actually much more.
The entire budget for both halves of the film will cross ₹4000 crore, revealed Malhotra in a recent interview with YouTuber Prakhar Gupta. "We are funding it ourselves; we are not taking anybody's money," he added. "When we began working on it six-seven years ago, and particularly after the pandemic when we decided to make it seriously, everybody thought I was out of my mind."
He also elaborated, "No Indian film comes close to it in scale. In simple terms, the budget will be about 500 million dollars for both the films—Part 1 and Part 2—well over ₹4000 crore."
Ramayana is coming in two parts, with Part 1 to release in theatres on Diwali 2026, followed by Part 2 on Diwali 2027. While not confirmed, reports indicate that the first half will end with the cliffhanging scene of Sita Haran.
The first look of the film was released on July 3, 2025, and has already generated a massive response from viewers. Fans now eagerly wait for the official trailer and teaser.
The movie stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as the powerful Raavan. Sunny Deol will make a cameo as Hanuman, Ravi Dubey as Laxman, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha, and Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodari.
Although speculations keep going on regarding other actors joining the cast, no further casting news has been officially announced.
