Actor Patrick Dempsey, known for his roles in "Grey's Anatomy" and movies like "Ferrari," has been named People's Sexiest Man Alive for 2023. The announcement was made on "Jimmy Kimmel Live."
In a playful twist, Dempsey participated in a Q&A session with the audience while wearing various humorous filters, such as a lizard face and a donkey, on the late-night talk show.
Dempsey expressed his surprise at the news, saying, "I was completely shocked, and then I started laughing, like, this is a joke, right? I've always been the bridesmaid!" He also shared that he's glad to receive the recognition and intends to use the platform for positive purposes.
The People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive feature has been an annual tradition since 1985, with past honorees including Mel Gibson, Chris Evans, Paul Rudd, Michael B. Jordan, John Legend, and Idris Elba, among others.
I'm glad it's happening at this point in my life," Dempsey told 'People' in the publication's article revealing him as this year's winner.
"It's nice to have the recognition, and certainly my ego takes a little bump, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive."
Asked how he first reacted to the news, Dempsey replied with a laugh, "I was completely shocked, and then I started laughing, like, this is a joke, right? I've always been the bridesmaid!"
Before Patrick Dempsey was unveiled as People's Sexiest Man Alive for 2023, several other notable names were mentioned in the magazine's annual issue, which includes "many, many sexy men." Some of the mentioned individuals include Pedro Pascal, Timothee Chalamet, Usher, Jamie Foxx, Lenny Kravitz, and Philadelphia Eagles' star center Jason Kelce.
