Nusrat Jahan and Nikhil Jain’s wedding not valid, says Kolkata court

Giving the decision on the wedding of Nusrat and Nikhil, a Kolkata Court said "It is declared that the alleged marriage held on 19/06/2019 at Bodrum, Turkey in between the plaintiff and the defendant is not legally valid. The suit is, thus, disposed of on admission." The order of the court was based on the religious ground as Nusrat is Muslim by religion and Nikhil is Hindu.

A local court in Kolkata on Wednesday declared that the wedding of actress turned politician Nusrat Jahan with Nikhil Jain is not legally valid. The order of the court came after TMC MP made a statement that her marriage was according to Turkish Law and hence it is not valid in India.

Earlier, Nikhil filed a lawsuit against Nusrat saying he asked her to get their marriage registered but every time she avoided the conversation. In the nine-point statement, he also addressed Nusrat's allegations of illegally keeping her belongings and mishandling her funds.

Earlier, in a conversation with India Today.in, Nikhil Jain had confirmed the news of their separation. "These are legalities, I don't really want to comment on anything she's said because the matter is sub judice in court. I have filed a civil suit in Kolkata and I will not comment on it till it is in court," Nikhil said. "I have filed for an annulment in Kolkata, we have been separated since November last year," he had said.

Nusrat, who recently become the mother of a baby boy tied knots with Nikhil in Turkey on in June 2019. They got married in an intimate ceremony in Turkey and later hosted a wedding reception in Kolkata.
