In the second season, viewers witnessed Celeste (portrayed by Kidman) and her companions grappling with the burden of concealing the truth about Celeste's husband's demise (played by Alexander Skarsgard in the initial season) from his probing mother, Mary Louise (Meryl Streep).

''My daughter is the one who watched both seasons and insisted, 'There absolutely has to be a third one.' She remarked, 'Celeste isn't coping well in the second season, what's her plan? I could even understand Mary Louise's perspective,''' Kidman disclosed to Elle magazine.

Previously, ''Big Little Lies'' aired its first two seasons in 2017 and 2019. In November, Kidman confirmed the revival of the series with its third season.

Adapted from Liane Moriarty's eponymous novel, the show chronicles the lives of Kidman, Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, and Zoe Kravitz as five women in Monterey, California, entangled in a murder inquiry.
