Renowned filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's highly anticipated OTT series, "Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar," is set to make its debut on the popular streaming platform Netflix on May 1.
The announcement of the series' release date took place during a mesmerizing drone light show event held at the prestigious Mahalaxmi Race Course in South Mumbai. Spectators were treated to a captivating glimpse of the world of "Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar" as drones formed intricate patterns in the sky, offering a sneak peek into the series.
Among the attendees were the stellar cast of the show, including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, and Sanjeeda Sheikh, alongside Prerna Singh, CEO of Bhansali Productions, and Tanya Bami, Director of Series at Netflix India.
Described as an epic tale of love, power, revenge, and liberation, "Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar" delves into the rich cultural tapestry of 'Heeramandi,' a vibrant district, through the intertwined narratives of courtesans and their patrons against the backdrop of India's tumultuous struggle for independence in the 1940s.
The series is built upon the conceptual brilliance of Moin Beg and is both created and directed by Bhansali himself, who also serves as a producer on the project.
