Kangana Ranaut's 'Emergency' Set to Release in Theatres on January 17

Kangana Ranaut's period drama, 'Emergency' will now hit the screens on January 17 of next year after it receives censor clearance.

On Monday, Kangana took to her Instagram and shared a poster from the film which displays its pivotal characters.

She captioned, "17th January 2025 – The epic saga of the nation's most powerful woman and the moment that altered India's destiny. #Emergency – Unveils Only in cinemas".

Directed during the period of Emergency 1970's by the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, this film is likely to be a thrilling account of one of the most spoken-about chapters in the history of Indian democracy.

The film is written, directed, and headlined by Kangana Ranaut, and it marks her second directorial after ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’.

The film features a powerful ensemble cast, including Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik. Each actor plays a pivotal role in bringing the nuanced political and personal dynamics of the era to the screen.

Emergency is produced by Zee Studios, Manikarnika Films and Renu Pitti. Sanchit Balhara and G.V. Prakash Kumar shall compose the music for the film, dialogues and screenplay by Ritesh Shah .

Last week, on the eve of Bhai Dooj, Kangana had shared a cute note of wishes on social media for her brothers. Yesterday, she shared another cute picture of bestowing her blessings upon her brothers Akshat and Karan. Kangana was over the moon as she smiled brightly in the candid click. She captioned the post by just writing, "#bhaidooj." She also added Asha Bhosle's iconic track "Mere Bhaiya, Mere Chanda." In the next post, the 'Tanu Weds Manu' star was found feeding sweets to her brother while holding a pooja thali.

She captioned it by writing, "Do you know that #bhaidooj is a festival where sisters vow to protect the dignity, pride, and overall well-being of their brothers? Missed you @varunranaut". She chose a classy suit for the special day.
