‘Kalki’ Leads IMDb’s 2024 Rankings of Indian Films, with ‘Manjummel Boys’ in Second

The recently launched blockbuster "Kalki 2898 AD," featuring Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Prabhas, has ascended to the top of IMDb's list of the Most Popular Indian Movies of 2024.

The story revolves around a dedicated group tasked with safeguarding the unborn child, Kalki, of lab subject SUM-80. This movie is the inaugural entry in the anticipated Kalki Cinematic Universe.

The second position was claimed by the Malayalam film "Manjummel Boys." This film features Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi S. Poduval, Lal Jr., Deepak Parambol, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Arun Kurian, Khalid Rahman, and Shebin Benson.

"Manjummel Boys," inspired by a real event from 2006, tells the story of friends from the small town of Manjummel near Kochi, who embark on a trip to Kodaikanal. The adventure takes a drastic turn when one of them gets trapped in the Guna Caves.

Chidambaram, the director of "Manjummel Boys," commented, "'Manjummel Boys' is a story of camaraderie and a survival thriller that delves into universal themes of overcoming adversity. In third place is the Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone-led "Fighter," followed by "Hanu Man," "Shaitaan," and "Laapataa Ladies." Other films that made it to the list include "Article 370," "Premalu," "Aavesham," and "Munjya."

As for the Most Anticipated Indian Movies for the Rest of the Year, the Allu Arjun-starrer "Pushpa: The Rule" leads the list, followed by "Devara Part 1," "Welcome to the Jungle," "The Greatest of All Time," "Kanguva," and "Singham Again."

Additional films on IMDb's list of Most Anticipated Indian Movies for the Rest of the Year include "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3," "Thangalaan," "Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha," and "Stree 2."
