Justin Timberlake, the actor and singer, was recently taken into custody in New York on charges of driving under the influence, as confirmed by his legal representative. According to law enforcement officials, Timberlake was observed operating his 2025 BMW while intoxicated late on Tuesday evening. Reports indicate he failed to stop at a stop sign and maintain his lane, as detailed in a statement from the police reported by cnn.com.
Upon being pulled over by an officer, Timberlake allegedly admitted to having consumed one martini and was following his friends home, according to court documents. Police noted his bloodshot and glassy eyes, along with a strong smell of alcohol on his breath. An officer reported that Timberlake exhibited signs of impairment such as slowed speech, unsteady gait, and poor performance on field sobriety tests, indicating an inability to divide attention.
Despite being asked multiple times, Timberlake refused to undergo a chemical test, initially stating, "No, I’m not doing a chemical test." He was subsequently arrested and held overnight for arraignment, police records confirm. In addition to the DUI charge, Timberlake was cited for traffic violations including running a stop sign and failing to stay in his lane, according to his attorney, Ed Burke, speaking to CNN.
Timberlake was released without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on July 26. The incident took place in Sag Harbor, a village in the Hamptons on eastern Long Island, where Timberlake had reportedly departed from the American Hotel before his arrest, according to sources familiar with the situation.
Currently touring with his latest album, 'Everything I Thought It Was', Timberlake's upcoming performance in Chicago is still scheduled.
