Actress Jennifer Garner shared a behind-the-scenes anecdote from the making of '13 Going on 30', revealing that her co-star Mark Ruffalo nearly quit the film after rehearsing for the iconic 'Thriller' scene.
Garner, who recently received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, reminisced about the memorable moment during the ceremony. Speaking at the event, she humorously pondered whether fellow actresses Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Keira Knightley would agree that Ruffalo owes his "rom-com success to the scruffy hair, the untucked cute button down," which became a trend for cute guys for the next two decades.
Garner continued, teasingly wondering if her esteemed colleagues enjoyed Ruffalo's anxiety as much as she did during the filming of '13 Going on 30'. She recalled how Ruffalo went from being shocked that they had to perform the 'Thriller' dance to becoming increasingly antsy, to eventually expressing his reluctance, saying, "Bro, this is not for me."
In the beloved film, Garner portrayed Jenna Rink, a teen who wakes up to find herself transformed into a 30-year-old magazine editor in 2004. In a pivotal scene, Jenna revives a dull party by requesting Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' and recruiting a hesitant Matt "Matty" Flamhaff, played by Ruffalo, to perform the iconic choreography from Jackson's music video.
During the ceremony, Garner and Ruffalo playfully recreated the memorable moment, much to the delight of fans.
This revelation from Garner isn't the first time she has shared Ruffalo's initial reluctance to participate in the dance routine, adding another layer of humor and nostalgia to their enduring on-screen chemistry.
