Jamie Campbell Bower, who is widely recognized for Stranger Things, and Sherlock Holmes's Eddie Marsan have officially become part of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power cast for season three on Prime Video.
Already in pre-production, the new season will start filming this spring at its new production home, Shepperton Studios in the UK.
According to an official announcement, Bower has been signed on as a series regular, and Marsan will have a recurring role.
Rings of Power takes major inspiration from J.R.R. Tolkien's legendary books' appendices, more so documenting the Second Age of Middle-earth. The show delves into the backstory of some of the series' most central characters, already seen in Peter Jackson's film series—The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies.
The series boasts a wide ensemble cast, consisting of Morfydd Clark, Charlie Vickers, Charles Edwards, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Benjamin Walker, Peter Mullan, Sophia Nomvete, Lloyd Owen, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Trystan Gravelle, Maxim Baldry, Markella Kavenagh, and Megan Richards.
Charlotte Brändström, who was both co-executive producer and director on several episodes in seasons one and two, is back as executive producer and director on the third season.
She will be accompanied by veteran director Sanaa Hamri, who directed a number of episodes in season two, and experienced filmmaker Stefan Schwartz, who will be directing for the first time in the series.
