Craig Brewer's musical drama Song Sung Blue, which stars Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson in the lead, casts the married couple as members of a Neil Diamond Tribute band. The shoot of the movie began on Monday, with Focus Features and Davis Entertainment producing it.
Michael Imperioli, Fisher Stevens, and Jim Belushi headline with Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, and Hudson Hilbert Hensley in the inspiring drama based on Greg Kohs' documentary Song Sung Blue. It is the true story of Mike and Claire Sardina from Milwaukee who become a success and find fame performing together as 'Lightning and Thunder'. The name came straight out of the 1972 Diamond song.
Focus is behind the film's development and holds worldwide rights, with Universal Pictures International handling international distribution.
Hugh Jackman and Jennifer Hudson have been showing great vocal potential-through 12 concerts of his residency at Radio City Music Hall of eclectic tunes that are part show tunes, and through her debut album, Glorious, which marks a great musical milestone. Work-wise, Jackman has Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie, and Hudson has Shell and Running Point coming down the pike.
