Honoured I got opportunity to wear police uniform on screen, says Sidharth Malhotra

As a citizen, he recognized the importance of the police in ensuring public safety and commended their patience in dealing with the community.

Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra expressed his honor at playing a police officer in the upcoming series "Indian Police Force." Speaking at the event 'Indian Police Ko Salaam,' dedicated to acknowledging the service, commitment, and patriotism of Delhi Police officers, Malhotra, who grew up in Delhi, emphasized his admiration for the challenging role of police officers.

As a citizen, he recognized the importance of the police in ensuring public safety and commended their patience in dealing with the community. Malhotra, known for his role as Kargil war hero Captain Vikram Batra in "Shershaah," expressed gratitude for the opportunity to wear the khaki uniform on screen, acknowledging the real heroes as the police officers.

The event, attended by director Rohit Shetty, co-stars Shilpa Shetty and Vivek Oberoi, and officials from Prime Video, aimed to pay tribute to the sacrifices of police officers and their families. Rohit Shetty highlighted the challenges faced by the families of police officers and emphasized the importance of monuments like the National Police Memorial.

Shilpa Shetty, proud to play a "real-life hero," expressed her joy at being part of a series dedicated to the Indian Police. Vivek Oberoi shared his experience working with Commissioner Sanjay Arora during the 2004 tsunami rescue efforts and credited the heroes in uniform for the country's stability.

Commissioner Arora commended the realistic portrayal of police personnel in the series, acknowledging the shift in recent films and series towards depicting the challenges, successes, contributions, failures, and dilemmas faced by the police force.

The series, set to start streaming on Prime Video from January 19, received a positive response from police personnel and their families at the event. The team interacted with officers and their families on stage, discussing fitness, personal and professional life, and the adversities they encounter on the job. The event also featured the felicitation of police officers for their selfless service and bravery, along with a live sand art presentation highlighting the challenges faced by the police.
