GRAMMY Nominations : BTS creates history while The Weeknd calls the awards "corrupt"

Trevor Noah has been roped in to host the 63rd edition of the prestigious award ceremony on January 31st, 2021 in a live show. 

The nominations for the 63rd Grammy Awards were announced Tuesday night creating a stir on the internet. 

The Korean boy band, BTS once again created history by being nominated under the 'Best Pop Duo/Group Performance' category for their hit single "Dynamite".

Dynamite topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart earlier and will be competing against 'Un Dia (One Day)' by Dua Lipa, Jay Balvin, Bad Bunny and Rainy; 'Intentions' by Justin Beiber featuring Quavo; 'Rain on Me' by Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande and 'Exile' by Taylor Swift featuring Bon Iver. 

On the other hand, popstar The Weeknd called out the awards as he received zero nominations despite having numerous hits this year. The three-time Grammy winner took to his instagram and twitter accounts to criticize the recording academy for completely leaving him out of the nominations even though two of his hits topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Beyonce is the leading contender with a total of 9 nominations for her anthem about Black Pride, followed by Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa and Roddy Ricch who earned 6 nominations each. Swift could break records with her album Folklore if she wins best album for the third time. The nominations for this year were observed to be highly female-dominated.
