Sunita Ahuja became emotional during a recent episode of the reality show Lock Upp, breaking down on camera after accusing the makers of failing to provide adequate food to the contestants. Refusing to eat alongside the other inmates, she lashed out at the production team and revealed that her husband, Govinda, had advised her against participating in the show.
As tensions escalated over the food, Sunita declined her meal and vented her frustration, saying, "We have to beg for food now? All of you should stand with me. All my kids are also hungry. The soup tastes like cow's piss. Added with some ***t too."
Having gone to bed without eating, Sunita remained upset the following morning and expressed regret over ignoring Govinda's advice before signing up for the reality series.
"Just because I am being decent and not my own self, it doesn't mean you do this for footage. I want to leave today! I am done. Mere ko Chi Chi (what she calls Govinda) mana kar raha tha — mat ja, mat ja... Jab jab uska baat nahi maana na pachtayi hoon main (whenever I have not listened to him, I have suffered). I don't even want to stay here."
The episode later featured a task in which contestants were required to answer simple questions to earn breakfast. Sunita, however, chose not to participate and reiterated that she wanted to exit the show.
Overcome with emotion, she burst into tears as fellow contestant Ram Kapoor, who had also skipped a meal, attempted to console her. She also turned down breakfast, insisting she would rather become ill if that was the only way to leave the competition. She added, "Do they think we are trash?"
Sunita subsequently spoke to host Riteish Deshmukh, repeatedly expressing her desire to quit Lock Upp. In response, Riteish tried to reassure her and said he would discuss the matter further.
Before entering the show, Sunita had spoken about what motivated her to take up the reality series. In an interview with IANS, she had said, "I said yes to the show because of Netflix and Ektaa. I love Ektaa, and I know she is a very big fan of mine, and I am a very big fan of Netflix. I know myself. I think I will be friends with everyone, especially with those who are honest, because I am very honest. I know I will be the senior-most contestant. The show is about Sach Ya Sazaa. Jo sach nahi bolega, usse saza toh milegi."
Sunita Ahuja has remained in the spotlight since last year after alleging that Govinda had an extra-marital affair. She has also spoken extensively about the challenges in their marriage across multiple public platforms.
