Los Angeles—Truman Show Down co-writer Mattson Tomlin has confirmed that production on the high-profile sequel to Matt Reeves' The Batman rolls this coming year.
The Warner Bros project, which has seen its share of a bumpy production process, is the follow-up to this year's The Batman. The prior movie stars a batch of major actors which includes Robert Pattinson in the main role next to Zoe Kravitz, Colin Farrell, and Jeffrey Wright.
Tomlin had co-written the screenplay of *The Batman Part II* with Reeves and maintained the sequel was approached with great expectations. "It's shooting next year. We're gearing up, and I will say that the bar just couldn't be higher. It's the sequel to the first one. But also, Matt is like no other. In the five years now that I've been working with him as closely as I have, I've tried to absorb as much as humanly possible from him.".
"Definitely privileged to have time with him, because he's a legitimate artist who, by the grace of God, is working in a world in which, from time to time, the art he's trying to make doesn't get to emerge. So, to be able to just be on the ride and be a part of going through the process—that's pretty astounding, pretty remarkable. I'm psyched for the movie," Tomlin told *Screen Rant*.
Warner Bros. officially greenlit the sequel to *The Batman* in 2022, during a presentation at CinemaCon, a few days after the movie's premiere.
The movie showed Pattinson in his fresh foray as the caped crusader, who has been fighting crime in Gotham City for two years. While following in the trail of corruption, he discovers a serial killer known as the Riddler, who has been killing members of the Gotham elite.
Joining the main cast were Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Wright as James Gordon, Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.
The film was a box office hit, with a revenue of over USD 750 million.
