Director Collin D'Cunha Calls Ananya Panday the Perfect Choice for ‘Call Me Bae’

In an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla recently, Collin D'Cunha hailed Ananya's preparedness down to the last detail about her role on the sets of Call Me Bae and how prepared she was for acting on screen. "You would assume a certain thing because I know Ananya is not formally trained as an actor but this was her 10th project and I have never seen such a young actor be so prepared for acting on screen," Collin said.

Over five years into her Hindi film career, Ananya Panday is all set to make her digital debut with Collin D'Cunha's series Call Me Bae. The series is set to start streaming on Amazon Prime Video on September 6. Ahead of its OTT release, here is what "impressed" director Collin D'Cunha about Ananya Panday's performance in the series. Collin said he has never seen a young actor as well-prepared as Ananya.

Collin also pointed out that Ananya is not limited to mere acting; she knows the technical know-how of acting, like facing the camera, catching the light, and adjusting her co-actor if he or she is getting covered. "Ananya knows how to face the camera, catch the light, and adjust her co-actor if he or she is getting covered," Collin said. He added that the Student of the Year 2 actress knows "where the camera's coming" on set and wowed him with her "camera ready" attitude.

In the same interview, actor Vihaan Samat who plays Agastya in Call Me Bae, was asked if the third season of Mismatched will be coming soon. To which he answered, it has been shot and will be out really soon.

Ananya Panday started her career with Karan Johar's Student of the Year 2 in 2019, in which she shared screen space with Tiger Shroff and Tara Sutaria. She has also appeared in Khaali Peeli, Pati Patni Aur Woh, Dream Girl 2, and Liger. The last movie she did was Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, which got released in 2023.

In the series Call Me Bae, Ananya plays the lead, Bella Chowdhury, also referred to as Bae. Pipped to be a hilarious drama by the production house Dharmatic Entertainment, the show boasts an ensemble cast which also comprises names like Gurfateh Pirzada, Vir Das, Varun Sood, and Muskkaan Jaferi, among others.
