Hollywood stars Dakota Johnson and Adria Arjona are going to star in an upcoming comedy film, Splitsville, which dissects the intricacies of an open marriage. Makers Neon and Topic Studios have announced the same.
"SPLITSVILLE. The new comedy from Michael Covino and Kyle Marvin, starring Dakota Johnson and Adria Arjona. Burning up 2025", Neon captioned a photograph of a burning script of Splitsville on X.
Directed and written by Michael Covino, Splitsville will star himself with his longtime writing collaborator Kyle Marvin. The duo worked on the 2019 film The Climb.
In Splitsville, Marvin plays Carey, whose wife Ashley has asked for a divorce. She confuses him, so he turns to his buddies Julie and Paul for some advice. That's when he discovers their secret for living: an open marriage. Later, when trying to take this approach into his relationship with Ashley, he finds unexpected problems that will end up throwing all of their relationships into chaos.
Neon will distribute in the U.S., with Splitsville to be released in 2025. Production is due to begin this fall. Neon is also set to formally launch international sales on the film at TIFF next month.
Covino and Marvin will also produce under their Watch This Ready banner, while Emily Korteweg, Dakota Johnson, Ro Donnelly, and Samantha Racanelli are all producing for TeaTime Pictures. Arjona and Paul Barbeau will executive produce.
Marvin was recently seen in limited series WeCrashed, while Covino is starring in the upcoming indie comedy Notice to Quit. Johnson has most recently been seen in both Madame Web and Daddio — the latter with Sean Penn — and next appears in Materialists from Celine Song.
