Renowned Hollywood actor Chris Pratt is set to take the lead in "Mercy," an upcoming sci-fi thriller produced by Amazon MGM Studios. Directed by Timur Bekmambetov, known for his directorial debut with 2008's "Wanted," which also featured Pratt in a supporting role, the film is poised to be an electrifying addition to the sci-fi genre.
Penned by Marco van Belle, "Mercy" unfolds in a not-so-distant future where capital crime rates are surging. The narrative follows a detective, portrayed by Pratt, who finds himself accused of a violent crime and is compelled to prove his innocence, as reported by entertainment news outlet Deadline.
The film's production will be spearheaded by Charles Roven, the Oscar-nominated producer behind "Oppenheimer," through his Atlas Entertainment banner. Collaborating with Roven are Robert Amidon, Bekmambetov's Bezelevs, and Majd Nassif.
This project marks a reunion for Pratt and Amazon, following the release of his 2021 movie "The Tomorrow War" through the studio. Additionally, Pratt took the lead in "The Terminal List," a series produced by Amazon for its streaming service, Prime Video.
