Celine Song's Upcoming Film 'Materialists' Set for India Release

Materialists traces the life of a young woman who resides in New York City and who is bent on being successful as a matchmaker.

Earlier, it was announced that Celine Song's second directorial venture, Materialists, would release in US theaters on June 13 this year. Today, PVR Cinemas posted on X that the film will release in Indian theaters as well on the same date. The film features Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal in lead roles.

Materialists traces the life of a young woman who resides in New York City and who is bent on being successful as a matchmaker. She finds herself, though, caught between her flawed former boyfriend and pursuing the ideal mate for herself.

PVR Cinemas termed the movie in their release post as "a tale of power, passion, and the pursuit of more," with themes of "love, ambition, and the price of desire." One of the posters, which the makers posted earlier, had a picture of a heart-shaped cake, over which a wine glass and a half-smoked cigarette lay, representing the film's investigation into complicated relationships.

The film reunites Celine Song with her Past Lives producers David Hinojosa of 2AM and Pamela Koffler and Christine Vachon of Killer Films. Technically, the film has the skills of cinematographer Shabier Kirchner, composer Daniel Pemberton, costume designer Katina Danabassis, and editor Keith Fraase.
