Popstar Britney Spears has recently spoken out about her feelings immediately following the demise of her marriage with actor-model Sam Asghari, in which she admitted there was a time when she had "false confidence" and wished she could have been perfect. The 42-year-old made her revelation via an Instagram post sharing a feel-good throwback dance video from September 2023, where she captioned the whole vibe "being present" and "slowing down."
"I guess I need to brace myself and slow down and recap the past year because I think I had false confidence after my divorce," Spears wrote alongside the video.
She accompanied her dancing with Madonna's track 'I'm Addicted', noting, "Although I did post some of my best work with 'Ray of Light' and 'I'm Addicted' by Madonna!!! There was a lot of WTF moments!!! Trust me, I know we’re all human and make mistakes!!!"
In her reflective post, Spears apologized "for not being perfect."
"I literally need to go back and adjust and possibly do a couple more therapy sessions. I apologize for not being perfect, and I will try to get confidence and consistency back like I used to have!!!"
Spears, who recently released her best-selling memoir 'The Woman in Me', finalized her divorce from Asghari in May, confirmed by a judge with the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles County. Their separation was due to "irreconcilable differences that have led to the irremediable breakdown of the marriage, making it impossible for the parties to live together as husband and wife," according to documents previously obtained by People.com.
