Online ticket aggregator BookMyShow has approached the police in connection with the alleged sale of counterfeit tickets for British rock band Coldplay's concert scheduled to be held in Mumbai on certain platforms.
BookMyShow is the official ticketing partner for the concerts of the band.
BookMyShow is not connected with any ticket selling or reselling platforms like Viagogo and Gigsberg or third party individuals for the purpose of reselling of Coldplay's Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025 in India," it said in a release.
"Scalping is strictly condemned and punishable by law in India. We have filed a complaint with the police authorities and will provide complete support to them in the investigation," it said.
The online ticket aggregator also requested not to fall prey to such frauds. "Any tickets purchased from unauthorized sources will be at the consumer's risk and might end up being dummy tickets."
The Coldplay group is scheduled to return to India after eight years. The band will perform at Mumbai on January 18, 19, and 21, 2025.
Scalping is mass purchase of tickets of concerts and music shows for reselling them at tripled price.
Coldplay's much-awaited concert in Mumbai will get under way in January 2025, however, Clouded by ticketing scams at BookMyShow with millions of fans battling it out for a few tickets.
