Hollywood icon Angelina Jolie recently shared insights into her personal life, revealing that she doesn’t have many close relationships, possibly due to past betrayals and early life experiences.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar-winning actress said, "I don't have many of those deep, intimate relationships. It may be related to losing a parent at a young age, or my career, or just having experienced a lot of betrayal."
Still, Jolie highlighted the values of a few close relationships she does maintain. "I don't rely heavily on many warm, close relationships, but the few I have are enough," she said.
Jolie would attest, mom to Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, Pax, Knox and Vivienne, love spending quality time with loved ones. "If someone wants to watch bad TV and order Thai food, I'm the first to slip on some cozy socks and join them. Being with people I care about brings me joy," she says.
She made it clear that she is not craving solitude for personal indulgence. "I'm not somebody that wants to be alone to indulge in guilty pleasures. My guilty pleasure is other people," Jolie said.
The 49-year-old star also shares a strong feeling of connection with her fans and says this is because of her work in film. "It's special to enter a room full of strangers and find common ground quickly because you've been a part of their lives through your movies or have made them smile," she reflected.
Jolie attended the 81st Venice Film Festival in Venice, Italy. She was in town premiering her latest biopic titled "Maria," offering a look into the personal life of the iconic opera singer Maria Callas. The "Maria" biopic is directed by Pablo Larraín and produced by Fremantle. It co-stars Valeria Golino and Haluk Bilginer as Callas' sister Yakinthi and Aristotle Onassis, respectively.
