Actress Ananya Panday, featured on the third episode of the popular chat show 'Koffee With Karan' alongside Sara Ali Khan, delved into the nepotism debate, a topic she found herself at the center of previously.
In an earlier actors' roundtable discussion, Ananya had expressed the challenges she faced despite being an insider in the industry. She acknowledged that her journey was not as privileged as perceived, citing her father's absence from 'Koffee With Karan' as evidence.
This discussion, coupled with actor Siddhant Chaturvedi's remarks about the differing starting lines for insiders and outsiders, stirred criticism towards Ananya, leading to numerous memes and widespread debate surrounding the issue.
Talking about the incident, Ananya said, "Honestly, I don't want to sound like I'm victimising myself, saying 'Oh it's so tough for me'. It's tough for everyone. It's not easy for anyone in this business no matter at what stage they're in their careers. All I have ever worked for is validation. I'm the daughter of a man who is a huge people pleaser. In every aspect of my life, I just wanted love from people."
She further mentioned, "I do want people to think that I'm worthy of the opportunities I have got so far. I'm waiting for good work to come to me and I'm quite excited for the kind of work I'm doing."
In a twist of fate, a few years after the notable roundtable discussion, Ananya Panday and Siddhant Chaturvedi found themselves sharing the screen in the 2022 film 'Gehraiyaan.'
The movie, featuring Deepika Padukone and Dhairya Karwa, was released on a streaming platform but received unfavorable reviews from critics and failed to capture the audience's attention.
