The popular quiz-based reality TV show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati', which is all set to kick off its 16th season, will finally start on August 12. The creative team announced the launch date along with the tagline, "Zindagi hai, har mod par sawaal poochegi, jawaab toh dena hoga," highlighting how tough and interesting the questions are going to be in the show.
'Kaun Banega Crorepati' occupies a special place in Indian television history as a show that not only did relaunch Amitabh Bachchan into mainstream films but also brought him into millions of living rooms across the country. Amitabh Bachchan had run into deep trouble with his production house, AB Corp, during the late 1990s, after which he shifted with 'KBC' on television in the year 2000, which set new benchmarks. This gave him an opportunity to reach out to the hoi polloi directly, going beyond the silver screen once more for the megastar.
The Indian version of 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?' went on to become hugely popular, and 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' was really a cultural phenomenon. Barring a fleeting moment with Shah Rukh Khan hosting the third season, it was the return of Amitabh Bachchan to the show in 2010 for its fourth season that really sealed his association with the program, which continues to rule over primetime television.
With the upcoming season, the audiences are going to witness one more feast of quizzes coupled with inspiring stories by participants, as it is slated to hit screens on August 12, 2017, on Sony Entertainment Television.
