The unexpected shift has stirred quite a reaction online. Fans, who were eagerly awaiting the film’s release, expressed surprise, and many have speculated that the change may be influenced by the phenomenal success of ‘Saiyaara’, which is dominating the box office.

Even with fresh faces Aneet Padda and Ahaan Panday taking the lead, 'Saiyaara' has become an industry darling, raking in more than ₹20 crore on its inaugural day itself. This huge opening has left several netizens referring to the "Saiyaara effect" as a probable reason for 'Son Of Sardaar 2' getting shifted, although the producers have not validated any such connection.

The sequel, released shortly, features Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan, and Sanjay Mishra, along with the late Mukul Dev, who, unfortunately, died on May 23, 2025, just a few months before the movie release. His inclusion in the movie has lent an emotional touch to the cast and audience members as well.

Actress Vindhu Dara Singh, who is also an actor in the film, talked about fond memories of Mukul Dev in a Times Now interview.

I have all his memories with me because we did so many videos. I have so many videos of him. We would go to the shooting together and return from the shooting together. We spent plenty of evenings together. His family had come, and my daughter had come. We all had fun. He was a great man,"
he reminisced.

Vindhu went on to say, "He was the most loved. Normally, I feel I'm the most loved (person) wherever I go. But here, on this set, you could sense that Mukul Dev was the most loved. Everyone loved him so much. He was a great and lovable person."

The first 'Son Of Sardaar' in 2012 had a starry cast in Sonakshi Sinha, Juhi Chawla, and Sanjay Dutt. Given the sequel is arriving more than a decade after, one can only hope for another installment of laughter, action, and tears—this time with a fresh cast and a touching ode to a beloved thespian.
