Dinesh Phadnis, renowned for his portrayal of 'Fredericks' in India's iconic TV series 'CID,' has passed away in Mumbai at the age of 57. The actor had been on ventilator support due to extensive liver damage and was admitted to Mumbai's Tunga Hospital on December 1.
Initially, there were reports suggesting a heart attack, but fellow actor Dayanand Shetty, who acted alongside Phadnis in 'CID,' refuted these claims. Shetty had been providing updates on Phadnis's health and confirmed his passing at midnight.
The close-knit 'CID' cast, known for their strong bond, has gathered at Phadnis's residence to mourn his loss. Phadnis's final rites are scheduled to take place today at the Daulat Nagar crematorium.
'CID,' which aired from 1998 to 2018, enjoyed a remarkable run on Indian television. Phadnis's portrayal of Fredericks endeared him to audiences for his comedic timing and engaging interactions, notably with Shivaji Satam's ACP Pradyuman.
His presence and memorable performance contributed significantly to the show's enduring popularity throughout its long tenure on television.
