Maintaining its position from the previous year, the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru (IISc Bengaluru) has once again secured the number 1 position in the Research Institutions category of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF Rankings 2023). The Education Ministry of India released the NIRF Rankings 2023 on Monday. IISc Bengaluru has maintained its top position in the research institutions’ rankings for the third consecutive year. Meanwhile, IIT Madras holds 2nd place in this ranking list. Both IISc Bengaluru and IIT Madras also feature in the top 2 positions in the overall educational institution rankings. This year, the IITs continue to dominate the top 10 rankings in the research category, with the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati making a new entry in the top rankings. In the NIRF 2023 Rankings, IIT Roorkee and AIIMS Delhi have moved to the 7th and 8th positions respectively from their previous rankings of 8th and 9th place. However, the Vellore Institute of Technology has slipped down from 10 to 11th place. Here are the top 10 research institutions in India and their scores according to the 2023 NIRF rankings:
