Jammu and Kashmir: All educational institutions to remain shut till December 31

The administration issued the fresh order after a thorough review of the Covid-19 situation in the state on Sunday evening. It is meant to regulate activities and to control the spread of the pandemic in the union territory.

The Jammu and Kashmir administration issued fresh Covid-19 guidelines on Sunday evening saying that all educational institutions will remain closed till December 31. The guidelines also mentioned that there will be no requirement for new passes for activities that were already permitted in the state.


“All schools, colleges, higher educational institutions (including anganwadi centres), etc will continue to remain closed till 31st December, except training institutions run by the central and state government," reads an order issued by Chief Secretary and Chairperson, State Executive Committee, B V R Subrahmanyam.

The administration issued the fresh order after a thorough review of the Covid-19 situation in the state on Sunday evening. It is meant to regulate activities and to control the spread of the pandemic in the union territory.

“No fresh permission or passes are required for activities which were already permitted under earlier orders. All instructions relating to safety, health precautions and social distancing continue to apply,” said the order issued by the state administration.

Coaching centers and institutions will be allowed to run classes outside the containment zones with a capacity of 50%, strictly following the standard operating procedure (SOP). 50% of teaching and non-teaching staff would be called for online classes.

“Skill or entrepreneurship training will be permitted in national skill training institutes, ITIs or other training centers registered with the national skill development mission or JK skill mission national institute for entrepreneurship and small business development, Indian institute of entrepreneurship and their training providers will also be permitted, as per the SOP already issued,” the order said.
