JNU to revert back to its own entrance exam from next year for admission to PhD programs

The students and teachers have been demanding that the university should resume its responsibility of organizing the entrance exam. “We will go back to Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Entrance Exam for PhD admission as the majority opinion is that for the PhD critical analysis is important and the MCQ (Multiple Choice Question) doesn’t allow that," the Vice Chancellor told media persons.

The Jawaharlal Nehru University will revert to its own entrance exam for PhD admission from next academic session. The announcement in this regard was made by Vice Chancellor Santishree D Pandit on Monday. The decision comes three years after the JNU outsourced the responsibility for PhD entrance exam to the National Testing Agency (NTA).

For last three years the National Testing Agency (NTA) has been conducting the entrance exam and applicants who were applying for the PhD programmes had to appear in the Computer Based Test. Over the last year, teaching faculty and the students have been highlighting the problems they are facing in the NTA-led Exam.
