Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) has reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 5,826.96 crore for the July-September quarter of the current financial year. This marks a significant recovery from the huge loss of Rs 2,476 crore it incurred in the same quarter last year.

However, the net profit for HPCL fell 14 percent sequentially from its April-June quarter profit of Rs 6,765.50 crore due to a spike in crude oil prices.

The revenue from operations for the second quarter amounted to Rs 1.02 lakh crore, compared to Rs 1.13 lakh crore in the same period last year.

HPCL shares settled at Rs 262.05 per share on the BSE on Monday, representing a 1.75 percent increase over the previous day's closing price.
