Former BEL CMD Bhanu Prakash Srivastava appointed CEO of Raymond's defence business

In a regulatory filing, the company said Srivastava is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, and brings 39 years of experience in strengthening India's defence manufacturing and technology landscape through leadership roles spanning operations, research and development, marketing, naval systems and strategic programme execution.

Raymond Limited on Monday named Bhanu Prakash Srivastava as its Chief Executive Officer – Defence, marking a significant step in the company's plans to build a technology-driven, future-ready defence business.

In a regulatory filing, the company said Srivastava is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, and brings 39 years of experience in strengthening India's defence manufacturing and technology landscape through leadership roles spanning operations, research and development, marketing, naval systems and strategic programme execution.

Srivastava has spent nearly four decades at Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), where he held senior leadership positions in defence technologies, large-scale programme delivery and institution building.

In his new role at Raymond, Srivastava will oversee the company's defence vertical, shaping its strategic direction, operational roadmap and long-term growth plans as Raymond makes "strategic investments" to develop advanced defence capabilities in India.

He will be responsible for formulating and implementing the company's long-term defence strategy while driving the transformation of its engineering expertise from precision manufacturing towards higher-value areas, including defence electronics, software, systems integration, and adjacent aerospace and automotive technologies.

During his tenure as Chairman & Managing Director of BEL, Srivastava oversaw a threefold increase in the company's market capitalisation from Rs 51,000 crore to Rs 1.5 lakh crore. He also secured more than Rs 55,000 crore in new orders, introduced over 100 products, strengthened the company's research and development capabilities, led mission-critical programmes covering radar, naval and sonar systems, missiles, electronic warfare and tactical communications, promoted indigenisation initiatives, and established AI incubation centres to support the growth of India's defence ecosystem.
