Tai noted that in June of the previous year, India and the United States successfully closed six WTO disputes, leading to the removal of retaliatory tariffs on multiple US products by India. According to a senior Biden administration official, India's recent actions have positively impacted American farmers by opening its market to various US products. During a session with members of the House Committee on Ways and Means regarding President Biden's 2024 Trade Policy Agenda, US Trade Representative Katherine Tai highlighted India's role in resolving several WTO disputes and eliminating barriers for American goods.

Furthermore, in September, the two countries settled their final outstanding WTO dispute, resulting in India agreeing to lower tariffs on additional US products. This development translated into expanded market opportunities for American farmers producing turkey, duck, blueberries, and cranberries, with notable gains seen in states like North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Overall, these collaborative efforts between India and the United States have fostered a more favorable trading environment, enhancing economic prospects for farmers on both sides of the partnership.
