Taking a gamble at India's luxury vehicle market, Range Rover launched the SV Masāra Edition for ₹4.99 crore (ex-showroom).
Launched on Saturday, this ultra-rare SUV will have just 12 units made worldwide, making it one of the most restricted products the company has ever launched.
The edition is named after the Sanskrit term Masāra, as a nod to Range Rover's intention to connect with Indian history and cultural heritage.
Taking visual cues from Himalayan blue sapphires, the SV Masāra Edition is equipped with a bold satin blue paint—a color specifically created for this vehicle. The deep blue hue continues onto the roof and mirror caps, accented by 23-inch diamond-turned alloy wheels.
Speaking on the launch, Rajan Amba, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover India, said, "The ultra-luxury segment continues to receive a strong response from Indian consumers. This launch is in line with our vision of offering exceptional, rare cars for our most discerning customers."
Within, the cabin is luxurious with a mix of Liberty Blue and Perlino leather trim. Chrome accents and sophisticated white ceramic highlights increase the upscale look. The back seat ride is especially luxurious with SV Signature Suite configuration—comprising fully reclining seats, a power-fold table, deployable beverage holders, and a chilled compartment that stores personalized etched glassware.
Under the bonnet, SV Masāra Edition is equipped with a potent 4.4-liter V8 petrol engine that produces 452 kW and 750 Nm of torque. All 12 cars will have special embroidery, bespoke cushions, and unique tread plates with "1 of 12" engraved on them, highlighting its exclusivity.
This new release comes after India-based Range Rover SV Ranthambore Edition, which shows the brand's increasing focus on making region-specific luxury vehicles. Established since 1970, Range Rover belongs to the Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) stable of brands, which also consists of Defender, Discovery, and Jaguar brands, operating in more than 120 countries.
India's luxury car market has seen significant growth, which has encouraged high-end automakers to introduce more high-value and bespoke models. With the SV Masāra Edition, Range Rover obviously aims at exclusivity rather than the masses, and it is likely to attract the high-end customers interested in unparalleled craftsmanship and scarcity.
Bookings can be made via authorized Range Rover dealerships nationwide, and the delivery schedules will be communicated individually after booking reservation.
