“We are consolidating our all production to Tapukara plant and will stop production at the Greater Noida plant. The company already had a major crunch in terms of market penetration and was operating only in the 70% of the market segment; with this it will further go down. Eventually, the company will have only four models in India - City, WR-V, Amaze and Jazz,” said Rajesh, Senior VP and Director, HCIL, in a conversation with ET Auto.

The Tapukara plant currently employees 5,500 employees and boasts a total capacity of 1.8 lakh which will meet the automaker’s current production needs. Honda is currently retailing around 9,500 units a month.
