IMD launches 'Climate Hazard & Vulnerability Atlas of India'

"The primary purpose of the climate vulnerability maps is for the users of disaster management sectors to identify the vulnerable districts for taking preventive and adaptive measures. Thus, in vulnerability maps, vulnerability assessment was focused on the district levels," the IMD said. The map was released at an event to mark the 147th foundation day of IMD.
Dense fog in Delhi, visibility at Palam reduced to 50m

Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 6 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature dipped to 17 degrees. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), visibility dropped to 50 meters at Palam from 4.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. The visibility remained between 50 and 100 meters at Safdarjung from 7 a.m. to 9.30 a.m.

The IMD further predicted a cold wave to continue over the national capital on New Year's day which is likely to prevail till January 3. "Fall in minimum temperatures by 2-4 degrees is likely over most parts of Northwest & Central India during next 24 hours and no significant change thereafter. No significant change in minimum temperatures over most parts of East India during next 24 hours and fall by 3-5 degrees thereafter," the IMD said in its daily forecast.
Delhi's minimum temperature drops to 3 degrees

On December 20, the city had recorded its lowest temperature of 3.1 degrees Celsius this winter season, bringing its minimum temperature five notches below normal as a cold wave swept across North India. The maximum temperature for the day has been pegged at 21 degrees Celsius, the IMD forecast said. The relative humidity at 8.30 a.m. was recorded at 94 per cent.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) had hit the 400 or 'severe' mark on Friday. The AQI improved from 'severe' to 'very poor' category on Saturday morning as it stood at 398.
Delhi's minimum temperature drops to 9 degrees

From Sunday onwards, the minimum temperature for the entire week will fluctuate between 7 to 8 degrees, while the maximum will remain 23 or 24 degrees, the IMD said. Meanwhile, Saturday's maximum temperature has been pegged at 24 degrees. The relative humidity at 8.30 a.m. was recorded at 87 per cent.
WhatsApp says banned over 2 mn accounts in India in Oct

WhatsApp on Wednesday said that it banned over two million accounts in India in October in compliance with the new IT Rules 2021. The Meta-owned platform also WhatsApp also received 500 grievance reports in the same month, and took action on only 18 of those. "As captured in the latest monthly Report, WhatsApp banned over 2 million accounts in the month of October," the Whatsapp spokesperson said.
