Samsung to supply 5G solutions, equipment to Bharti Airtel
Airtel, the world's fourth-largest communications solutions provider by users, is set to roll out 5G network in India in August, in partnership with Samsung. Swedish Ericsson and Finland's Nokia have also been selected as 5G partners. Samsung said the deal includes building 5G radio stations and offering maintenance and other services. The value of the deal was not disclosed.
Centre extends design-led telecom PLI scheme application date in 5G era
The Department of Telecommunication had notified the design-led production-linked scheme (PLI) scheme on February 24, 2021, with a financial outlay of Rs 12,195 crore. The guidelines for the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for telecom and networking Products have been amended with effect from April 1, to introduce design-led manufacturing with additional one percent incentive rates.

Govt preparing to auction 5G spectrum services this year
Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan said a Committee of Secretaries of various ministries discussed the spectrum allocation among various users in the context of spectrum needs of emerging technologies/users (5G/IMT) and recommended the spectrum allocation in relevant key bands.
Airtel prepays Rs 8,815 cr to clear deferred liabilities for spectrum
Digital communications solutions provider Bharti Airtel on Friday said it has paid Rs 8,815 crore towards part prepayment of deferred liabilities pertaining to spectrum acquired in auction of year 2015. Accordingly, the payment was made to the Department of Telecom, Government of India. "The prepayment is for installments due in FY 2027 and FY 2028," the company said in a statement.
