Gavaskar says Pant can become India's next Test captain
Kohli on Saturday announced his decision to step down from the captaincy, a day after losing the Test series to South Africa. As the questions start emerging over who could be the next skipper, Gavaskar said, "It's going to be quite a debate as far as the selection committee is concerned as to who should be taking Indian cricket forward. If you ask me, I am still staying, I would look at Rishabh Pant as the next India captain."
It's possible Kohli resigned to avoid getting sacked again, feels Gavaskar

Rohit Sharma an obvious choice, ideal candidate to replace Kohli as T20I skipper: Sunil Gavaskar

Virat an absolutely amazing talent, says Gavaskar
Following the dismissal of openers KL Rahul (3) and Rohit Sharma (0) early in Powerplays, the India skipper played with a "great sense of responsibility", scoring 57 off 49 deliveries to at least give his side a fighting total of 151/7. However, Pakistan, riding on a superb bowling performance from paceman Shaheen Afridi (3/31) and an unbeaten opening partnership of 152 runs between Mohammad Rizwan (79 not out) and Babar Azam (68 not out), scored a 10-wicket win over India.
Rohit Sharma will be my choice for captaincy in next two T20 WCs: Gavaskar
"I think Rohit Sharma for the next two World Cups. You could say they (World Cups) are back-to-back, one starting in a month and another exactly a year from now. So clearly, yes, you don't want to change too many captains at this particular stage. Rohit Sharma would definitely be my choice for captaincy of the Indian team for both these T20 World Cups," said Gavaskar on 'Cricket Connected' show on Star Sports.
Samson needs to give himself more time, says Gavaskar
The 26-year-old batsman made his India debut back in 2015 but has only featured in one ODI and ten T20Is so far. Samson has been among the runs in the IPL but even there, his numbers are mostly in the extremes. "What has led him down is the shot selection. Even at the international level, he doesn't open the batting there. He was the second or the third wicket down. And he looks to hit the first ball out of the ground.
Make KL Rahul vice-captain, groom him as future captain, advises Gavaskar
India's vice-captain Rohit Sharma is all set to take over as the role of skipper after Virat Kohli on Thursday announced that he will quit the captaincy of the shortest format of the game after the ICC T20 World Cup, starting next month. "It's a good thing that the BCCI is looking ahead. It's important to think ahead," Gavaskar was quoted as saying by Sports Tak.
India may think of bringing in extra batsman: Gavaskar
"I think they will think on whether they will go ahead with this line-up or make-up of the side. Whether they are okay going ahead with five bowlers or change it and bring in an extra batsman for a bowler," said Gavaskar after the match. The former India batsman pointed out at the crucial No. 6 batting position where Rishabh Pant had batted and failed in the series.
