N.Korea hails ties with China as 'unbreakable'

An article carried by the Rodong Sinmun, the North's main newspaper, spoke highly of the bilateral relations while commemorating the "DPRK-China Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance" signed in 1961. DPRK stands for the North's official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Yonhap news agency reported. The article also took aim at the US and other "hostile forces", which it said regard North Korea and China as a "thorn in their eyes", claiming that they have been scheming to undermine the friendly relations and unity of the people of the two countries.
Yoon orders military to swiftly punish NKorea in case of provocations

North Korea has carried out a series of short-to long-range missile tests since Yoon's inauguration in May and showed signs of preparing for what would be its seventh nuclear test, Yonhap news agency reported. The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said the allies launched the ground-to-ground Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) missiles from an eastern coastal region in Gangwon Province starting at 4:45 a.m. for around 10 minutes, Yonhap news agency reported. On Sunday, the North shot eight short-range ballistic missiles (SRBMs) from four different locations into the East Sea following a South Korea-US naval exercise last week involving an American aircraft carrier.

The UN Security Council voted on the US-proposed resolution but failed to pass it due to opposition from China and Russia, both veto power-wielding permanent members of the council and close allies of Pyongyang.

South Korea does not believe a nuclear test will happen in the next day or two, but it could "certainly" take place after that, Kim Tae-hyo, First Deputy Director of the National Security Office, told reporters. North Korea is believed to be preparing for its first nuclear test in nearly five years at its Punggye-ri nuclear test site, Yonhap news agency reported.

Principal Deputy spokesperson Jalina Porter said on Friday the U.S has also shared the information with allies and partners, reports Yonhap News Agency. "The US assesses that the DPRK is preparing its Punggye-ri test site and could be ready to conduct a test there as early as this month, which would be its seventh test," she said in a telephonic press briefing. DPRK stands for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the North's official name.
