27% of industrial sector computers in India affected by malware in 2022: Report

According to the ICS threat landscape report by cybersecurity firm Kaspersky, the second half of 2022 was marked by a rising number of attacks carried out using malicious scripts, phishing pages (JS and HTML) and denylisted internet resources. Malicious scripts and phishing pages (JS and HTML) were distributed both online and via email, while, a significant part of denylisted internet resources were used to distribute malicious scripts and phishing pages.
Only 24% of Indian firms are ready to defend against cybersecurity threats

According to Cisco's Cybersecurity Readiness Index, India scored high in the global chart in terms of maturity, performing above the global average of 15 per cent on cybersecurity readiness. "The Index has been built with a focus on five core pillars of identity, devices, network, applications, and data, and examines organisational postures in securing these," said Vish Iyer, Vice President, Architectures, Cisco APJC.

The pro-Russian hacker group called Phoenix allegedly compromised the HMIS Portal and had access to the data of employees and chief physicians of all the hospitals in the country, claimed the AI-driven cybersecurity company. According to CloudSEK's contextual AI digital risk platform XVigil, "the motive behind this target was the sanctions imposed against the Russian Federation where Indian authorities decided not to violate the sanctions as well as comply with the price ceiling for Russian oil approved by G7 countries".
Cyber-security firm Acronis denies hacking, says 1 customer's data leaked

The company denied earlier reports that it was hacked. In a statement to IANS, the company said that "Acronis only currently acknowledges the compromise of a single customer password. We are still investigating the situation", A cyber-threat watcher FalconFeedsio had posted on Twitter the claims by an unspecified hacker that they breached Acronis and stole data.
