All five of the former US presidents still living paid homage issuing statements praising her reign and her persona. Queen Elizabeth II died on Thursday at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, her summer retreat, at 96. During her seven-decade reign, the Queen met 13 of the last 14 US presidents. This includes all five of the former presidents who are still alive: Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump.

US President Joe Biden is not the only major figure who may be expected to attend the funeral of the Queen. Foreign heads of state and government, including other European monarchs, presidents and prime ministers, are almost certain to join the mourners in the United Kingdom.

Queen Elizabeth II breathed her last at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, one of her four 'royal' residences and possibly her favourite. Her family from near and afar had gathered there to be at her side in her final moments. Apart from Prince Charles, his elder son William, now next in succession, Charles' sister Anne, brothers Andrew and Edward and his wife Camilla were present.

"When it comes to how to mark 70 years as your queen, there is no guidebook to follow... But I have been humbled and deeply touched that so many people have taken to the streets to celebrate my Platinum Jubilee," the 96-year-old monarch said in a statement on Sunday, capping the four-day national celebrations.

The crowd cheered the Queen as she watched the Trooping the Colour parade - the military parade which marks the monarch's official birthday from Buckingham Palace. In a Jubilee message, the Queen said she was "inspired" by the goodwill of the nation, the BBC reported. Riding on horseback and wearing the Platinum Jubilee medal with his uniform, the Prince of Wales took the birthday salute from the troops on behalf of the Queen.

On Twitter, The Royal Family account released a photograph to mark her birthday, showing the Queen with two ponies. "Taken last month in the grounds of Windsor Castle, The Queen is pictured with two of her fell ponies, Bybeck Katie and Bybeck Nightingale," the account said.

Harry and Meghan's press secretary and foundation announced earlier on Sunday that the Duchess of Sussex gave birth to her second child, Lilibet 'Lili' Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, on Friday in California, DPA news agency reported. Lili is named after her great-grandmother, whose family nickname is Lilibet, while her middle name is that of Harry's mother, Diana, the late Princess of Wales.

The Queen's birthday, which comes a few days after the late prince's April 17 funeral, was marked in a low-key, private way, as there was no public celebrations when the monarch continues to observe two weeks of mourning until Friday, Xinhua news agency reported on Wednesday.
