In the match, where Delhi had a forgettable time in the fielding department, Kyle Mayers was on 14 when Khaleel Ahmed dropped his catch at short third off Chetan Sakariya in the sixth over. Mayers would go on to slam an explosive 38-ball 73 as Lucknow amassed 193/6 in their first-ever home game.

David Warner said they will take a call on the Impact Player at the appropriate time. "It can be quite confusing, maybe stressful at times (impact player). I'm excited to be back. Playing in front of a big crowd is quite exciting," Warner said adding that the players have sent their best wishes to regular skipper Rishabh Pant, who is still recovering from a car accident.

On the first double-header day in IPL 2023, Punjab Kings take on Kolkata Knight Riders in the afternoon match at Mohali (3.30 pm)while Delhi Capitals meet Lucknow Super Giants in the second match of the day at Lucknow (7.30 pm). Warner said his players are ready to take on Lucknow Super Giants in their first game of the TATA IPL 2023.

In their maiden IPL season last year, the side, captained by Rahul, finished third in the league stage with nine wins and five defeats. Gautam Gambhir, who was the team mentor for Lucknow Super Giants reaching the playoffs in their debut season of IPL this year, will also be the mentor of Durban Super Giants franchise in the inaugural edition of SA20 league in South Africa set to start from January 10 next year.

The result also meant that Lucknow's campaign in their debut season of the IPL came to a close, caused by their missed chances. The trio of Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, and Glenn Maxwell contributed just 34 runs as Rajat Patidar produced a carnage, a 49-ball century, which no one saw coming.
